When it comes to yeast infections and many other conditions there are certain things that we as humans can do to help prevent them like going on a yeast infection diet for example. A yeast infection diet is really designed to eliminate all the foods that candida really love and thrive on.
It’s not just about following a yeast infection diet but also about how we eat foods that can really play a big part in the effective treatment and prevention of yeast infections. Another important factor regarding food intake and one which is certainly over looked by many people is how we actually chew are food before we swallow it. Our digestive process begins before the food even reaches our stomach as the action of chewing makes us produce digestive juices which are essential for proper digestion. The more we chew the more juices are produced and the better our digestion is.
Unfortunately the western diet is full of very unhealthy foods which yeast infection particularly really thrive on and makes it extremely difficult to treat this condition effectively without eliminating these food types completely.
The most prominate food type that candida loves is sugar in all its forms and should try to be avoided in a yeast infection diet. This will really help to starve the yeast infection and kill it off effectively which in turn will allow you to restore the good bacteria balance back in your system. Once you have achieved your natural healthy balance back within your system this then allows you to properly absorb the nutrients in your food and will enhance your overall health and wellbeing.
Veggies Are Important For The Yeast Infection Diet
Making sure you eat lots of raw or steamed fresh veggies is very important for the yeast infection diet as these vegetables absorb all the fungal toxins and remove them from the body. One thing that should be mentioned is whilst you follow the yeast infection diet during the first week you may see an increase of your symptoms and feel slightly worse over all. This is normal as the toxins are being emitted into your system due to the fungi dying off. Stick with the diet and rest assured these effects will disappear. It has also been known for people to lose weight whilst on this yeast infection diet.
The yeast infection diet should really be made up of the following quantities of these foods:
30 to 35% Carbs
30% Protein
30% Good Fats
5% From Nuts And Seeds
Good veggies included in the yeast infection diet are:
Cabbages,brussel sprouts,alfalfa,broccoli,carrots(raw only),summer squash,turnips,zucchini,spinach,spring beans,cucumber,cauliflower,lettuceonions and egg plant.
Good fruits included in the yeast infection diet are:
Plum,peach,apricot,green apples,kiwi,grapefruits and nectarine.
Good meats included in the yeast infection diet are:
Beef,liver,sausage,lamb,pork,poultry and goat.
There some things that should definantly not be eaten on the yeast infection diet and should be completely avoided for this diet to work effectively. This yeast infection diet should contain no fruit juices of any kind due to their high sugar content. You should have no breaded meats but all others are acceptable. You can have eggs but do not have egg substitutes and you should have no butter or margarine. With the yeast infection diet you can have yogurt but just make sure it has very low sugar content. For the first two weeks it is recommended that you don’t consume any potatoes or legumes but after that time you can eat sweet potatoes in moderation.
No coffee or tea is allowed and no diet or regular soft drinks either. For this yeast infection diet you are not allowed any grains i.e. pasta, rice, corn etc. and absolutely no yeast products like bread or alcohol as these only feed the candida bacteria. Also don’t eat peanuts but you can have the following – walnuts, pumpkin seeds, pecans and almonds. You should not have any vinegars i.e. salad dressing, mustard, soy sauce and mayonnaise. It’s really best to try and avoid the following fish as they can contain high levels of mercury – tuna, shark, shellfish and sword fish.
Now I know what you’re thinking …what does that leave me to eat! Trust me I thought the same to start off with but believe me there are plenty of great foods left for you to eat and all will help you feel the healthiest you have ever been.
